Who can benefit from Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hormone Replacement Therapy, or HRT, is widely used for treatment of perimenopause and menopausal symptoms.

Hormone imbalance can have serious and disruptive effects on your daily life—from a loss of libido to memory issues to sleep problems. Long term, it can weaken your muscles, bones, and cardiovascular health.

Hormones play a key role in regulating many processes in the body including metabolism, mood, sexual function, sleep, and body temperature. For women, the effects of aging, menopause, and childbirth impact hormone levels, leaving your body out of balance.

All In Family Medicine can help restore your hormone levels with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) targeting imbalances with specially formulated, personalized treatments, you'll soon feel like yourself again.

We can offer different methods of intake of these hormones, including pills, creams, injections, and pellets.

What is BIO-IDENTICAL Hormone Therapy?

BHRT or bioidentical hormone therapy is the use of hormones that are IDENTICAL on a molecular level with the hormones produced by the body naturally. These are not derived from an animal source like synthetic hormones.

What symptoms can bioidentical hormone therapy help relieve?

Women in perimenopause and menopause often experience unpleasant symptoms as a result of a significant decrease in their body’s estrogen and progesterone production. Low hormone levels cause symptoms such as:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Night sweats or hot flashes
  • Painful sex
  • Low libido
  • Sleep disruptions
  • Lack of energy or fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • A decrease in muscle mass
  • Mood swings
  • Memory loss
  • Brain fog

These symptoms can affect your quality of life, cause problems in your intimate relationships, or sometimes lead to depression. BHRT can regulate your hormone levels so you feel more like yourself again.

More Information on Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormones are not drugs. Hormones are natural substances which function as messengers to stimulate cells to heal, reproduce and rejuvenate. Disease and symptoms of aging occur when hormone levels decline. Physical deterioration is not a requirement of growing older. Natural hormone supplementation can help your healthy aging.

Estrogen

Estrogen is found in women and men. In women Estrogen is expensed by the ovaries, which then stop production at menopause. Estrogen therapy helps protects against heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's Disease and memory disorders. It also protects against vaginal atrophy, urinary incontinence, and prevents symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes. An estrogen deficiency results in urogenital atrophy, issues holding your bladder, skin problems and more. It is important to the bodily function that you are prescribed and utilize natural estrogen and not a synthetic version. Synthetic estrogens can be harmful to your body, so for optimal protection natural estrogen supplementation should be balanced by natural progesterone supplementation. Hormone therapy, as a way to address menopause, is a natural remedy which helps maintain optimal estrogen level for maximum protection against other issues.

Progesterone

Progesterone is secreted by the ovaries but once menopause begins, production stops. Progesterone protects against breast and uterine cancers, osteoporosis, fibrocystic disease and ovarian cysts. It dramatically decreases pre and post-menopausal symptoms. Most U.S. physicians prescribe synthetic progestins which cause such side effects as bloating, headaches, fatigue and weight gain, and most recently are associated with increasing the risk of cancer. Bio-identical progesterone must be prescribed in place of the synthetic progestin to avoid the side effects which is why here in Palm Springs, we emphasize the use of natural hormones. Progesterone is very beneficial in treating premenstrual symptoms (PMS) such as mood swings and migraine headaches.

Testosterone

Testosterone is a hormone found in both men and women and is secreted by the adrenal glands, testes, and ovaries. Testosterone protects against cardiovascular disease, hypertension, body fat, and arthritis and has many additional benefits. Testosterone also prolongs the quality of life by decreasing the diseases of aging, as does estrogen in the female.

DHEA

DHEA is a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands and this dehydroepiandrosterone hormone a.k.a. androstenolone is a precursor to other sex hormones. In addition to dehydroepiandrosterone having its own hormone effect, it results in a shift to an anabolic or protein building state. It reduces cardiovascular risk by increasing lipolysis or breakdown of fat. It also stimulates the immune system, restores sexual vitality, improves mood, decreases cholesterol and body fat.Recent studies point to DHEA as an anti-stress hormone, reversing the effects of stress on the immune system. Studies have also shown that higher doses of DHEA may help improve quality of life for patients with Lupus, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions.
